The Wharfedale branch is one of the top ten fundraising branches in the country and they are now looking for a number of volunteers to join their team.
If you are not sure what you fancy getting involved with come along to one of the NCTeam meetings, have a glass of wine and join in bouncing some ideas around, oh and the odd newborn!
Vacant Position: Branch Co-ordinator and Vice Branch Co-ordinator
No previous experience required just enthusiasm and ideas. These roles involve co-ordinating ideas branch members have for the year ahead. Being aware of the national issues affecting the NCT and what that means for our branch, don’t worry you will receive information from HQ about the sort of issues we need to be aware of. There is plenty of guidance from HQ and other members in the branch so you are not out on a limb. Our branch is very much a collective and we try to share out as much of the work between us because of course we have our own families, work and lives to manage too!
Vacant Position: Advertising Rep
No previous experience required just enthusiasm and ideas/contacts. This role involves contacting our advertisers before events offering ‘table space’ at our coffee’s/playgroups and other special events, liaising with them regarding ad space in the newsletter. Attracting new advertisers is also a key part of the role, for example if you’ve been to a new playcentre, coffee shop or been to anything or met anyone that might benefit from advertising with us you can offer various advertising opportunities within the branch.
Vacant Position: Secretary
No previous experience required. This role involves taking minutes at our NCTeam meetings and circulating them, uploading them onto our Yahoo! Page. Letting people know about future dates of NCTeam meetings. Guidance is given from HQ about issues that our branch needs to be aware of. Liaising with the Branch Co-ordinator about any issues locally and nationally that may affect our branch or members.
Vacant Position: Branch Publicity
No previous experience required. Every branch has a certain amount of national and local publicity material to distribute across the branch and public places and this role is about co-ordinating this and ensuring that our profile is maintained across the Wharfedale patch. It is also about contacting local newspapers about forthcoming events. This role could be even further enhanced if you have a marketing or publicity background.
Vacant Position: Librarian
No previous experience required. Each branch holds a library of relevant books about a whole range of parenting issues from newborn feeding material to managing the terrible two’s. The role of the librarian is to hold this small library and to attend events where it would be useful for members to peruse what is on offer i.e. coffee’s or girl’s nights.
Vacating Soon: Nearly New Sale Co-ordinator
No previous experience required. Our Nearly New Sales are one of the top performing sales in the country and its all down to our tried and tested formula. This role involves liaising and co-ordinating seller information, packs and finances post-event. The role involves liaising with advertisers and organising the volunteers on the day of the sale. You will be joining a large and experienced team.
Vacating Soon: Nearly New Sale Volunteer Co-ordinator
No previous experience required. This role involves using all your finely honed persuasive powers to recruit an army of helpers for the day of the sale. You will be joining an established team to help organise the event before-hand. On the day of the sale you will be responsible for organising the volunteers in setting up the hall, hanging garments, putting up signs, staffing tills and arranging the end of sale activities.
Vacant position: membership coordinator
No previous experience required. Welcomes new parents to the Branch, encourages those involved to consider NCT membership and encourages renewals.
Remember all these roles are voluntary and combined with our busy lives as parents so the amount of time required is usually in short bursts and quite manageable (honest!).
