Operating since 1979, Ilkley Pre-School Playgroup provides a caring and stimulating environment in which your child can flourish and we are proud to announce that following an OFSTED inspection on April 18th 2012, Ilkley Pre-School Playgroup has been rated OUTSTANDING IN ALL AREAS. This is the highest mark achievable.
Amongst the many positive comments that the Ofsted inspector made, she observed that “the management of all aspects of children’s learning and welfare is exemplary in the setting” and that “children make outstanding progress in their learning”. She also observed that “the children are very happy and secure in a highly inclusive and welcoming environment where expectations are high”.
By coming to pre-school, your child will gain confidence outside the home, learn to interact with others and become more comfortable with the daily routines of school. In addition to providing excellent pre-school education the staff are committed to encouraging your child’s love of the outdoors and their interest in our community, through regular excursions and involvement in local events.
The fantastic garden not only provides children with a wonderful outdoor play space, it also enables them to get involved with planting, nurturing and harvesting their own vegetable produce, which can later be enjoyed at snack time! Our garden was praised highly by the Ofsted inspector who observed that “children enjoy planting a wide variety of fruit and vegetables in the large, attractive garden where children can choose to play outside.…promoting exercise, and this is possible even in wet weather due to the organisation of the outdoor area”.
The team of “highlymotivated”, enthusiastic and dedicated staff all live locally and are parents themselves. They are all well qualified in Early Years Education, ensuring daily activities reflect the main areas of pre-school learning set out by OFSTED
They have been providing pre-school education for over thirty years and act as a feeder for a number of local schools, including All Saints, Sacred Heart and Ashlands. Pre-School sessions run every weekday morning 9.15am-12.15pm. They also offer an afternoon session on Thursdays until 3pm.
