Cost: £3.50 per session
Transport: Large car park at the pool with some mum and baby spaces. The swimming pool is located behind Craven College and is easily accessible from the A65.
Age restrictions: Up to 4yrs
Equipment required: The pool requires babies to wear swim nappies (available from reception for £1.50) and a swimming costume. You’ll also need a towel and costume for yourself. You could also invest in a wetsuit so that baby doesn’t get too cold, a happy nappy so that there aren’t any spills from the nappy and a dressing gown for baby to wear by the side of the pool. Pool toys are provided.

Craven Swimming Pool is a modern building with excellent facilities – it is well worth the trip out to Skipton! There is a group changing room for mums and babies at the far end of the changing rooms. The Monday class is well attended and the babies seemed to all be under 1 year. There is a chance to try putting your baby under water but no pressure to do so. Younger babies (under 4 or 5 months) don’t tend last the full half hour as they get too cold, but it is perfectly ok to get out when they’ve had enough. My baby loved his first swimming experience – fantastic fun!
