Anybody else ever struggle for inspiration for what to cook? My partner and I tend to eat the same things regularly - so now that we're also cooking for J - I've been looking for new things to make that are tasty, healthy and easy!

So with the picnic looming (Tues 21st July... more details soon) I was just wondering what good ideas are lurking out there for finger foods for all our little ones that are also tasty/interesting for not so little ones too?

My first experiment seem to work well... carrot falafels.

Inspired by some nibbles we got from waitrose the other day - I found this recipe for zucchini falafels - and tried it today but swapped the courgette for carrot. J demolished 3 for his lunch ... so guess that was a thumbs up.. I enjoyed them too so we'll see what dad thinks later! (Hope link works!)

Hi

That sounds like a great recipe. I've added a link to it to the 'cooking with baby' section of MoorMums (http://www.moormums.co.uk/baby-activities/cooking-with-baby/).

Any more suggestions, I'll gladly put them on.

Also, if you have a photo of your baby eating falafels or whatever else you've made, we'll add those too!

J

After being off his food (including milk) for a few days with some bug or other this teatime J's slowly getting interested in eating again. I tried to think of things with a lot of water content as he's bit low on fluids - and came up with cucumber and raw pak choy. He really liked the pak choy and it works well as a finger food. I just ripped up a leaf and he likes waving the green leafy bit around in the air and sucking on the juicy light coloured bit. Pretty sure he would like it cooked too - will try that tomorrow!
