I've got a couple of friends who use Leap frogs near Morrisons and are particularly pleased with it.

Hi,
As manager of Guiseley Children's Centre obviously I can't give recomendations (Both the Guiseley Nurseries are nice). For a full list of local Children's daycare google Family Hub leeds, This is the official children and families information site and has a lot of detail on Daycare and what to look for. Don't forget local Childminders who provide a professional service in a home environment - again details on the family Hub
Cheers Matt

Hiya,
I looked around at all the local nurseries just after the birth of my daughter 7 months ago. Each offered something different and to me it came down to how I felt about them. The Leapfrog nursery seemed organised but lacked a personal touch as they were looking after so many kids in each class. Lullabells in Menston had the opposite issue...not many kids so the kids that were there looked a bit bored, and a funny musty smell within. The one by Yeadon health centre (name escapes me) was lovely and I would recommend it, but a bit out of the way for us to travel to and from everyday so the one we signed up to was Guiseley Day Nursery, which had a personal touch, kids were playing outside and looked really happy. However all of the above have a long waiting list.
Good luck

The nursery in Yeadon is Cliffe House - by Morrisons and the Health Centre.
Do people know that you can look at Nursery or playgroup/preschool OFSTED reports on line. Go to OFSTED website Early Years bit and best search is the bit on the left - use post codes.

More on OFSTED - Google OFSTED and pick Inspection reports. On that page Pick postcode search and then Childcare on non domestic premises and enter the Nursery/preschool code and reports will come up.Cheers Matt

Just in case anyone would like them, here are links to some of the websites mentioned in this thread:

Leeds family hub (http://www.thefamilyhubleeds.org/) website

the childcare search page (http://www.igtest2.org.uk/igtest2/childcareSearch.aspx) within the hub website

OFSTED (http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/oxcare_providers/list/) website.

If you'd like to add a link, you simply highlight the text you'd like to be linked, click on 'insert link' button (globe with chain link). It brings up a dialogue box. Type in the website address (or you can just copy and paste). Click OK.

Does anyone have any recommendations/info for pre-schools in/near Menston please? We will be looking for one from August when our DS is 3... we're looking for one that will accept the pre-school vouchers that I understand we will get when he's 3 (and does anyone know how we actually get them?).

And do we need to apply now? I've never done this before! Thank you for any help/advice.

Hi, All three yr olds are entitled to 15hrs/ week term time funding - called Nursery Education Grant. You can take this with Pre-schools, Day Nurseries, Some childminders and school Nurseries. It can be taken in a flexible manner and combined - or not with daycare. To find location of groups where you can access this and for more info on Nursery Education Grant google Bradford Children's Information Service. Menston also has a new children's Centre who can provide information. I would start applying soon as popular places fill up quickley. Also think about what school you are wanting him to go to - will some of his friends be going with him.
Cheers Matt

There is an information paper (http://www.bradford.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/0D68B247-FD3D-4A75-9F34-C4D64ADE317D/0/NurseryEducationFundParentsInformation.pdf) for parents written by Bradford council that explains how the Nursery Education Fund works.

There's also some general information (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/Preschooldevelopmentandlearning/NurseriesPlaygroupsReceptionClasses/DG_10016103) about free nursery places for 3 and 4 year olds.

as regards pre schools near menston, i don't know if it's too far for you but i would really recommend the meadows on bradford road in guiseley. it's actually in a special school but mainly a mainstream provision (they have a few children with additional needs each session). they take from 2 1/2 into the preschool and then the year before they go to school they go into the nursery there.
it's pricey for additional sesssions but the term folllowing the child's birthday you get 15 hours free and you can take them quite flexibly - up to 6 free hours per day, if you wanted to have say, two long days in nursery and then some whole days at home with your child to fit around work as i have done. or you can just go for three hours each day.
the staff there are absolutely superb and my son who is a fussy customer has been really really happy there.
