Hello all!

I thought I would post a small introduction. I don't yet live in Ilkley but dh and I plan to put our house on the market and move when my mat leave ends in January. We already spend a lot of time in Ilkley as dh plays for a local team and I intend to go to LLL meetings at Christ Church.

We have a 9 month old daughter (teething, crawling, cruising the furniture- it's exhausting!) and its nice to read other similar experiences on here (breastfeeding & biting is an issue here too!).

I don't have many friends in Leeds, particularly since becoming a mum so I hope to make new friends when we move.

Anyway, I feel a bit of a fraud posting on MoorMums so I will go back to lurking until we move. I just wanted to say Hi and great idea for a website.

RR :)

Hello RR and welcome to MoorMums.

Look forward to meeting you when you come to Ilkley. It is a fab place to live (with or without children). I love being able to just walk into town or get the train to Leeds/Bradford.

Thanks Neil!

My husband is going back to work part time when I return full time next year, how do you find being a stay at home dad? My dh is keen to take dd to baby groups but I think he's worried about being the only dad!

Thanks Neil!

having tried it, i wouldnt change it!

no problems at all, we get to do boy stuff all day, whenever we like! its like being on school holiday permenantly!
ok, so theres been a few lumps on the learning curve, like over tiredness and a few late meals, but we have this under control most days.
you can get a few sideways glances at baby groups as other mums get used to you. i'm not really into the girlie talk stuff so tend to be on the floor with the kids rather than in the mothers meetings! i know quite a few mums now, tho not by name, we say hi and have small talk, then carry on playing. once you get used to it, its kind of second nature.
to see you child developing and growing up is priceless. the blurbs and gurgles turning into words, the facial expressions, the hand eye co-ordination, the experimentation with everyday objects that we take for granted. i'm so glad we didnt use a childminder (no offense!) and both went back to work and miss all this!

the only downside, is kate is missing most of it now.

give us a shout when you get local, we'll show you around!

I'm going back to work on Monday and my OH will be looking after Frank for 1.5days. I think he is really looking forward to it. They love playing together and doing boy stuff (like bashing things and stuff). In fact they are on the floor together right now. I felt it wouldn't be fair if I just got all the one 2 one time with Frank.

Talking of dad friendly groups - we have been to a music group (http://www.moormums.co.uk/whats-on/classes/music-movers-ilkley/) on Tuesday mornings that has quite a few dads. It is a great group if you're not a dad too.

Hi all,
if LLL stands for La Leche League, could I come along too? I know I put a post on recently about giving up breast feeding, but I really don't want to yet, and am sick of beating myself up about about it. Would be good to meet others who feel the same.

Of course you can - anyone is welcome - I have only been to a few meetings but have found their advice very helpful. My baby is just over 5 months old at the beginning I was sure I was only going to do 6 months but am sure I want to carry on longer if I can .
The meetings are first Friday of every month at Christ Church off The Grove in Ilkley 10 - 12.
If you want any other info PM me.:)

LLL does stand for La Leche League Neil and Louise.

Details of the meetings are on MoorMums (http://www.moormums.co.uk/whats-on/mum-and-baby-groups/breastfeeding-support-group-ilkley/). LLL are all about supporting breastfeeding mums and promoting breastfeeding in general. Having been to the group in Ilkley, they are very friendly and helpful.

I hear the meeting this morning went very well.

Hi, I did go along to the La leche league meeting yesterday, and was very glad i did. They were so friendly and supportive about my decision to continue breast feeding over 1 year. I really wish I'd found the group months ago so I hadn't wasted lots of time worrying over feeding to sleep, dependancy on breastfeeding etc..
So thanks to Moormums for the info and LLL for making this Mum feel a whole lot more relaxed about my breastfeeding my little girl a little longer!

LouLou thats brilliant news! Sorry I missed this months LLL meeting, had to take DD to the GP.

She is almost 10mths and I plan to carry on until me/dd decide otherwise. She feeds to sleep, when she's hurt (just started walking!) and its reassuring for me when she's not eating much or ill to know that she'll be ok with milk. Its just far too useful :)

Hope to see you at the next meeting!

i was trying to find out about lll meetings a while back, unsuccessfully so i'm pleased i read this.
would it be ok to bring a 14 month old (breastfed) and a 3 year old (no longer breastfed) - or is it mainly for people with babies under 1?

Hi Louise,
when i went to the last LLL meeting, there were lots of ages there from 6 weeks to about 3 or 4. They are very friendly and welcoming. I'll be going this Friday. it starts at 10. Hopefully see you there
