Hi there,
My first day of maternity leave today - baby due in 3 weeks. Just happened to come across this site whilst browsing.
All very strange working for a busy office in Leeds centre to relaxing at home!
Does anyone know of any local baby groups\meet ups over the next few weeks? I live in Baildon. Am planning to go to the NCT Saltaire bumps & baby class.
Many Thanks

Hi Clare - welcome to moor mums!
I've never been to this group - but I think some people in the forum may have been ...

Good luck with the birth.

Hi Clare
Welcome to MoorMums! And congratulations! Make the most of your maternity leave - feet up, daytime telly, cup of decaf tea and a pile of new baby books! I remember feeling that I needed to rush round to make sure I got everything done!! I didn't get everything done... the baby (Frank) still arrived. Nothing else seemed to matter anymore after that.
Anyway, there are lots of groups to be going to in Baildon. I've just put a few more on:
Bumbs and Babes (http://www.moormums.co.uk/whats-on/mum-and-baby-groups/bumbs-and-babes-baildon/) in Baildon
The Baby Cafe (http://www.moormums.co.uk/whats-on/mum-and-baby-groups/the-baby-cafe-breastfeeding-support-shipley/) offers breastfeeding support and is open to pregnant ladies - this is in Shipley
The group that tinkertoes suggested is good too. Really friendly.
Let us know what you think of any of the groups!
Also, we want to open the site to pregnant ladies more, do you have any special requests of what you would like to see featured? I've been thinking of doing a 'birth story' section within 'baby chat', do you think that would be of interest?
thanks for getting in touch.

Hi Jess
Thanks v much for the info. Frank is v cute!
Countdown to my DD begins; 10 days to go...
Birth stories would be an excellent feature especially the positive, drug free ones! Other items could be yoga\exercises in late pregnancy, suggestions to reduce induction, hospital bag list, nct groups etc.
Be great to see more suitable walks with babies\toddlers in our area too. After all we are 'moormums' !
In my pre-pregnant state I used to be in a young persons hiking group. Thinking of starting a small 'pramacise' group up around here for mums & babies. Maybe it's something we could discuss in the near future.
Thanks again.

Hi Clare, I'm from Baildon originally and live in Bingley now. I go regularly to the post natal group at the methodist church on a TUesday, I've found it's the friendliest around, and also bumps and babes on a weds at the same church. Evie is 22 weeks now but there are lots of very young babies there too. If you want someone to go with after your baby's born, let me know via the forum, and I'll look out for you, THese groups can be quite intimidating at first. Good luck

Hi, I live in Baildon and there is a lot going on. The methodist church is the main source of baby groups and they are so friendly. My little one is now 18mths but when she was born I hardly knew anyone in Baildon. I now have a lovely group who we see regularly and have made some good friends. Again if you want to meet up let us know via the forum.

Savor every minute of your pregnancy. One of my aunties said that being pregnant was the best bit because you had a baby but you didn't have to look after it!
Get as much rest as you can.
Although, the one thing I would have done differently, if I had my time again, is to make a load of food and freeze portions of it. And also, order some internet shopping to be delivered once a week for the first 6 weeks - just with milk and fruit and veg. I found that when I was breastfeeding, I was supposed to have a healthy diet, but going to the shop and making healthy meals didn't seem like a top priority.
I look forward to hearing your news!!
Jess
