Hi
Just to share with everyone, that after what seems like months of bidding on ebay, I have finally managed to get a Bumbo seat!!! Can't wait to go and pick it up.
Can you use that in the bath?

Hi, Don't use your Bumbo in the bath, it won't attach safely. Definitely best buy a proper bath seat, they're not expensive! Bumbos are fab though, just for everyday non-bath use.

Daniel, 8 1/2 months, escaped from his Bumbo yesterday.

I totally wasn't expecting him to!! I thought that was the whole point of the seats - that they were contained!!

He just leant over to one side further and further until he eventually flopped out (and banged his head on the wooden floor).

Anyone looking to buy a Bumbo?

Liam escaped from a bumbo at baby group at a very young age. I see people putting them on tables and the danger of them falling really frightens me. Not a big fan of them any more.

The manufacturers of Bumbos say they can be suitable up to 14 months. I can't say that Daniel is particularly advanced or anything for his age - I just can't see how it can be suitable once they can climb (or rather fall) out of it!

Very dangerous. I'm just glad he was on a wooden floor rather than the tiles I had him on just minutes earlier. Or even the concrete flags in the garden whilst I'm putting the washing out!!

Maybe I'll just buy him a helmet. Does anyone have one? Are they any good? I can just imagine that Daniel would just pull it off or cry until it was removed.

Felix has a helmet called a thud guard. I saw it on the apprentice and ordered one the next morning. We had a scary experience on holiday when he banged his head on a brass bed and I didn't want to have any more incidents like that. I know some people would say hemets were unecessary and you should just watch them at all times but it's the best thing I have ever bought for him. Some children are just more accident prone than others, Felix just steams in and tries to climb stuff without caution. The £25 i paid was well worth it. Wearing the helmet gives him more freedom to get about without me holding him back all the time and being nervous about him banging his head on the stone and tiled floors. He doesn't wear it on wood or carpetted floors unless he is doing any dangerous moves. I think it is good for them to get a few bumps and scrapes that's how they learn.

My niece fell out of a bumbo too. I think they're really good to feed babies in the garden before they're crawling though.
