If you’re taking your baby on a picnic this summer, it can be difficult to know what to take to feed your baby once they have started weaning.
We’ve got some ideas from local mums of what to feed your baby on a picnic – all of which you could eat yourself too (handy if your baby’s not hungry)!
Mini sandwiches – try cutting up sandwiches with pastry cutters to make mini sandwiches in interesting shapes
Chicken – you could try chicken wings or just chunks of roast/grilled chicken depending on how good your baby is at feeding himself/herself
Tortilla – You can fill tortillas with lots of healthy vegetables and mixed with cream cheese to make sure your baby is getting lots of veg and dairy products
Falafels – find a recipe for falafels in our ‘Cooking with Baby‘ section
Pitta bread – cut up into strips and serve plain or with dips (e.g.: cream cheese, hummous, guacamole or babgannoush
Steamed Vegetables – like baby corn, carrots, asparagus, courgette (more yummy if soaked in unsalted butter)
Rice cakes – plain to much on or with some cream cheese. You can use either baby rice cakes or normal ones cut into quarters.
Chunks of bread – Try all types of bread (although watch the salt content!) Some babies love to munch on the end of a baguette.
Salad bits – like cucumber, tomatoes, or lettuce leaves.
Quiche – healthy and nutritious, quiches are a great food to share with baby.
