Three Rise Locks
Transport: Park in Wilson Road off Park Road (parking is free). At the end of the road, there is a path down to the canal.

Time: As long as you want! The canal goes all the way to Leeds in one direction and all the way to Liverpool in the other. So walk as far as you like, until it feels like about half way, and turn back!
Level of difficulty: Easy. Walk along the canal is totally flat, except for steep hills for the locks (3 rise and 5 rise). You could always just leave these out and turn around when you get to them.

Walk down to the canal by turning left down a path at the end of Wilson Road. Cross over to the other side and go left towards Leeds (it takes about an hour from there to get to Salts Mill) or right towards Liverpool (it takes about 10 minutes to get to five rise locks).
This is a great walk, you can walk with 2 buggies side by side and there are no cars. Older children might like to feed the ducks (an occasional swan), although beware, there is no barrier along the canal.
