With the NHS being hit by budget cuts left, right and centre, local community midwives Lisa and Julie have taken it upon themselves to set up and run private antenatal classes at the Devonshire Arms.
The classes, which will be run on Sundays (ideal if your husband struggles to make evening classes during the week), will cover topics such as:
- Recognising signs of labour
- When to contact the labour ward
- What to pack in your hospital bag
- Pain relief in labour
- Caring for the newborn
- Screening tests for the newborn
The class sizes will be kept small so that you will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and get to know the other couples in your group.
In addition, as the classes will by led by local midwives, they will have specific knowledge of what to expect at our local hospitals.
